Last week, Year 5 pupils from St Charles Catholic Primary School in Spennymoor had the opportunity to visit London and the Houses of Parliament.
With an early start, the class met at Durham Train Station before travelling to the capital city. Once in London, pupils travelled by red bus directly to the Houses of Parliament to take part in a tour and workshop. The pupils’ excellent behaviour on the bus was noticed and commented on by a member of the public.
During their visit, pupils toured the Houses of Parliament and learned about the history of the building, its importance and what happens there. While at Parliament, the pupils met with the school’s local MP, Alan Strickland, and were able to ask him questions about his role and what he does. The school would like to thank Alan Strickland for helping to organise the visit and for meeting with the pupils.
After lunch, the class took part in a walking tour of London, where they took in a range of sights, including seeing a new Banksy artwork. The day concluded with a McDonald’s tea before pupils returned home by train.
Thank you to all the staff who accompanied the pupils and helped to organise a fantastic and memorable day out.
