We were delighted to welcome Satva and his mum to St Charles to share the vibrant traditions of Diwali, the festival of light. Pupils learned that Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

During the five-day festival, Hindu families decorate their homes with flowers, candles, and sparkling lights, and welcome guests with delicious treats. Satva’s mum kindly brought glow sticks, cake, and sweets for everyone to enjoy!

Inspired by the celebration, pupils created Diwali candles, coloured Rangoli patterns, and exchanged tokens of kindness. We noticed many lovely similarities between Diwali and our own festive traditions, making this a truly enriching experience.

At St Charles, we embrace diversity and celebrate the beauty of different cultures.
