Our Liturgies and Collective Worship for Collective Worship and Masses is led and managed by a group of staff and pupils within the school. The school has a daily act of Collective Worship for all children. These vary in group size and can be based in a class, in a small group of classes or as a whole school. Children at St Charles’ are encouraged to join in a lead collective worship in a variety of ways. They may make powerpoints for use in assemblies, write prayer, read scripture, dramatise bible stories, play music and discuss their thoughts and ideas. Class masses take place on the first Friday of each month (where we are in school). These masses take place in our school hall and at St Charles Church. It is open to all parents and parishioners of St Charles, All Saints and Ferryhill Parishes. You would be most welcome to join us, please see the school newsletter or parish newsletter for more details. Alongside our monthly celebrations of Mass, pupils also attend masses for feast days, important celebrations and special events.
Forward Together in Hope
Forward Together in Hope is a three-year journey of renewal across the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. It is about all of us working together to explore and discern God’s will for our diocese.
The entire process will be firmly rooted in prayer and a real openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
As part of the Forward Together in Hope journey, our family groups created our own St Charles’ Hope Tree. During family groups we discussed our hopes and dreams and how we could achieve these. Every pupil wrote their own thoughts onto a leaf and these were placed around our lovely tree; designed and made by the KS2 Art Club.
